Care instructions and maintenance

In general, we recommend washing your clothes as infrequently as possible, since frequent washing wears out both your garments and the environment. Always follow these steps:
Garment has a stain
Spot clean with a cloth or wet wipe
Garment smell like smoke or have picked up other external odors
Hang outside or put in a freezer
Garment is generally dirty
Hand wash at maximum 30°
Handwash only
Iron at low temperature
Do not tumble dry
Do not dry clean
Do not bleach

Over time, with use and washing, the drywax treatment on your garment will gradually wear off, reducing its weather resistance. Rewaxing is a simple way to restore this functionality and can easily be done at home or as bought as an in-house service at Artikel København. As our garments are made from 100% cotton, they naturally develop a unique patina with wear. While we appreciate the beauty of this aging process, we also understand the desire to restore a garment's original color. If your clothing begins to fade, we recommend re-dyeing it. This can also be done at home or through our in-house service at Artikel København. Additionally, Artikel offers a repair service for garments. If the issue is due to a construction fault, repairs are provided free of charge. For damage caused by wear, tear, or accidents, we offer repairs for a fee. Are you interested in the options above, or would you like our workshop to take a look at your garment? Fill out this formular and we will contact you:

The Zerowaste skirt series

The wrap skirt follows a zero-waste design principle, eliminating all left over fabric from the production. The skirt’s versatile design allows for two distinct wearing styles, one straight and the other asymmetrical, which can be achieved by adjusting the two horn buttons.

The entire fabric is used.

Every inside seam is meticulously covered by bias tape, adding an element of color to the interior of the shirt.

100% wool from Scotland by Harris Tweed. Fabric produced locally in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and made from pure new wool handwoven in the very home of a Harris Tweed weaver.

Halley Stevensons have pioneered the development of waxed cotton to this day, with the first patent being awarded in 1910, for "cleaning and water-proofing textiles". Situated in The Baltic Works site in Dundee, Scotland, they have been manufacturing textiles since 1864, beginning life as a Jute mill and soon evolving into Dyeing and Finishing. The beauty of their waxed cotton is its durability and longevity, it is built to last. The fabrics are breathable, the wax adjusting to ambient temperature to be softer/more breathable in warm weather and stiffer/more windproof in cold conditions.
